P.O.W.E.RTM

There are 5 distinct traits that are true of every Hill Taker…

Understanding

P.o.w.e.r

Perspective

Perspective shapes everything! Hill Takers see the world differently. Their thoughts, emotions & actions are all influenced by their Eternal Perspective. Two people can experience the same circumstances & yet have two completely different responses based on their perspective.

Offensive Mindset

Hill Takers wake up every day, looking to improve, looking to make a difference, looking for opportunity. A Hill Taker understands that transformation doesn’t happen in the valleys, it happens on the climb up the Hills! There is always room for improvement in our lives.

Wholehearted Devotion

Anything worth anything valuable will cost you something.  In a world full of instant gratification & quick fixes, Hill Takers possess grit & discipline that endure long enough to see the hill tops.  When God gives you a vision or dream there is always a lag time between the birth of that dream & the fulfillment of that dream. Usually bigger the calling, the longer & harder the journey.

Empower Others

Many men become focused on their personal growth & forget to bring anyone with them. By Empowering Others, Hill Takers strive to leave behind a legacy felt 3 or more generations deep. Also, many larger Hills can only be conquered by a community versus an individual.

Ruthless Trust

When taking big Hills, it can be daunting & dark. The journey is full of moments when the clouds are so thick you can only see your next step. It’s in those moments that it requires Ruthless Trust to keep climbing.

Who’s Caleb?

Caleb’s Story

The Bible is full of stories of men that make up the Heroes of the Faith that followed God, not perfectly by any means, but valiantly chose to live life in the “Hill Country” instead of settling for the complacency & mediocrity of the meadows.

One of those men was Caleb.  Caleb was an elite warrior & savage of the faith with a bookend story.  At the start of his story, we find a middle-aged man in his prime being selected to an elite special forces unit of 12 men tasked with spying on the Promise Land.  As the story goes, 12 men all saw the same thing, however only Caleb & Joshua saw it differently then the other 10.  Both saw the lush land filled with milk & honey.  Both also saw the giants that inhabited the land.  Only Caleb & Joshua saw a God that was bigger than the giants & a Promise Land that was worth fighting for.  Sadly, the masses sided with the other 10 & the entire nation including Caleb & Joshua found themselves wandering in the desert for 40 years due to their lack of faith.

Thankfully the story doesn’t end there!  We later find Caleb & Joshua finally entering the Promise Land.  This is where it gets exciting & where the Hill Taker mentality comes from.  When Joshua is distributing the land among the nation (think retirement party for Caleb) we see Caleb unexplainably demand he receives the “Hill Country”.  Why is this so remarkable & irrational you ask?  You see the “Hill Country” was still inhabited by the giants.  Caleb was 85 yrs old now & if that was most of us, we’d be asking for the rights to land in the mountains of Colorado to ski or the beachfront property in Naples.  Not Caleb, he was still just as passionate about killing those giants & taking back that hill country he had saw over 40yrs ago!  So he inherits the land God promised him decades earlier & goes on to slaughter giants in the “Hill Country”.  Now that’s a Hill Taker!
